PAINT AND BUILD A CUSTOM SKATEBOARD​

Students learn about the history of deck graphics and learn to design and paint their own deck using a variety of techniques including color-mixing, lettering, blending and stencils. They also learn to cut and apply grip tape and use the tools to build and maintain the trucks and wheels.

LESSON ONE: LINE

(Drawing What You See)

The ability to draw what you see is the most fundamental aspect of creating representational art. In todays lesson we will view still lifes and works of art from history. We will also practice creating our own drawings based on real-life objects. We will explore and learn about the Elements of Art starting with an emphasis on LINE

Materials: Pencil (or pen) Paper, something to draw

Journal: Continue practicing contour line drawings  

LESSON TWO: SHAPE

(Drawing a Still Life)

In this lesson we continue to draw things we see by composing and drawing our own still life with an emphasis on shape. We will also view and discuss the use of shape in famous works of art.

Materials: Pencil, paper, Objects to draw

Vocabulary: Shape, Geometric, Organic, Form, Space

LESSON THREE: SPACE
30 minutes
(Creating depth in a drawing)

In this lesson we will practice the techniques used by artists to create a sense of depth in a drawing. We will view and discuss the use of Space in famous works of art.
